Gillian and Zachary met while living in Memphis. She was a second year optometry student and he was pushing through a demanding second year of residency. Despite their constant scheduling conflicts, they managed to hit it off! While in Memphis they often enjoyed dinner dates, bike rides along mud island (where they eventually moved together), attending weddings and playing tennis and golf on the weekends. As they became 4th years, Gillian temporarily moved to Fernandina Beach the summer of 2022 for an externship rotation. They missed each other, but were fortunately able to visit when time allowed. On the last day in Amelia Island while visiting Gillian, Zach proposed on the beach with the waves crashing in as a Florida storm was approaching. They managed to run back to the condo right as the storm hit. After a year of being engaged they started to wish they had time to plan a wedding in Memphis. Being engaged was great, but both grew tired of waiting for the right time to get married. So, on July 21, 2023 on Mud Island they decided they couldn’t wait any longer and were married by Father John. December of that same year they adopted their first puppy Mr. Otto Adam Diltz the West Highland White Terrier. He has become their pride and joy and can often be found riding in his stroller pushed by “dad”. Gillian and Zach then moved to Houston in June of 2024 for him to complete his training as a spine surgeon and Gillian working part time as an Optometrist. Again, together in all kinds of weather, their move was met with a hurricane hitting Houston their second week there. They have now settled in and are loving every minute in H-town! Over a year of planning later and they are so excited to finally celebrate their love story with friends and family. It has been well worth the wait and all in Gods timing. They hope to see you there!
