How We Met

Life has a funny way of working out

We first met while working at South Main Kitchen in Alpharetta—Zach as a server and I as a hostess. During slow moments, we would chat, and over time, our friendship grew. Originally, I was only supposed to work there for a few months before my study abroad program began in late March 2020. But, as you know, the world had other plans, and my study abroad was canceled. I ended up staying in Alpharetta indefinitely, and Zach and I began texting regularly as we both adjusted to life at home. That time apart sparked something deeper between us, and our connection quickly blossomed into something more. As the world started to open back up, I returned to Athens to finish school, and we navigated long-distance. We took turns driving the hour and a half to see each other, working around Zach’s unpredictable schedule. When I graduated, I decided to pursue a graduate program at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. Zach was more than happy to make the move with me and my cat, Bowie. After a year of living together, we decided to expand our family by adopting a second cat, Pinot Noir. A couple of years later, Zach planned a special date night at our favorite bar and restaurant in Raleigh. It was there that he asked me to marry him, and of course, it was the easiest "yes" in the world. We’re beyond excited to celebrate our love and commitment with our friends and family, especially in the area where we both grew up.
