Blue Bird Inn
One of our favorite spots for lunch or dinner in the area. This old inn serves American-style food and a good beer selection in a comfortable and historic building. We recommend the Luau Bites for an app, and the "Bird is the Word" fried chicken sandwich.
Porch Restaurant & Pub
A favorite local restaurant for American fare at dinnertime. Eat upstairs for more formal dining, or downstairs for causal pub dining. They also have a Sunday brunch.
Brickerville House Restaurant
Comfortable family restaurant offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We generally go at breakfast time! Don't forget to try the scrapple, a Pennsylvania-Dutch breakfast staple.
Country Fare Restaurant
A good place for simple, reliably good food and PA-Dutch specialties at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also have many good baked goods!
Bulls Head Public House
Voted "the best pub in America" many times over, this historic pub in the heart of Lititz is worth a trip. It is a classic english pub, complete with savory pies and warm beer.
Tröegs Independent Brewing
A great local PA brewery! They have a fun, casual dining room where they serve their beer as well as order-at-the-counter sandwiches and fries. They also offer brewery tours!
St Boniface Craft Brewing Co
A small local brewery, good for a casual dinner of a pint and a wood-fired pizza.
Porch & Pantry
A nice spot for breakfast, lunch, and baked goods in the picturesque town of Mount Gretna.
Fox Meadows Creamery
The best ice cream there is! Be sure to get a "baked fox", where they make an ice cream sandwich with your choice of a fresh baked brownie or chocolate chip cookie and any flavor of ice cream. Mmmmm.
Lancaster
Take a walk through downtown Lancaster, a busy city center with many coffee shops, cute stores, etc. While you're there, be sure to check out the Lancaster County Farmer's Market in Penn Square, where vendors from around the county sell food, crafts, and other goods.
Lititz
Downtown Lititz is a great place to walk around, shop, grab a meal (at the Bull's Head maybe), and check out some historic spots like the Sturgis Pretzel Bakery and Wilbur Chocolate.
Wilbur Chocolate Retail Store
A great local chocolate and candy maker. Be sure to get some Wilber Buds!
Hershey's Chocolate World
While Hershey Park will be closed by October, Chocolate World is free and open year round. Take a casual self-guided walking tour of the factory, and get a free Hershey's chocolate at the end. Locals say the whole town smells like chocolate!
Dutch-Way Farm Market - Schaefferstown
Head over to this local PA-Dutch grocery store for the best soft pretzels, chocolate milk, and meadow tea (a popular PA-dutch tea).
Ephrata Cloister
A very interesting historic site with preserved buildings, a museum, and tours centered around a religious community that began in the 1730s.
Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area
A great place for hiking, birding, and enjoying nature. It hosts a museum, trails, and wildlife drive that offers great views of a variety of wildlife, particularly birds. Zach's favorite place for birding, and a fun place to explore or have a picnic!
Hawk Mountain
One of the best hawk-watching locations in the northeast! This internationally-known spot is great for a hike and especially for birders.
