They both attended Brighton High School at the same time but never knew each other (Zach says he saw Annalisa in the hallway, carrying her books) and then attended Grand Valley State University. Annalisa and her room mates threw a birthday party one Saturday, and Zach showed up. They instantly were drawn to each other and sat on the couch for the rest of the evening, talking about music. They have been by each others' sides since then.

Zach suggested we take a vacation together down to Key West, and Annalisa agreed it was a great idea. Zach went above and beyond, arranging every last detail - from the hotel; that had rescued tropical birds (Annalisa's favorite), to the transportation; a boat ride at sea and a golf cart to drive around the city; and the sights, the ocean waves crashing at the Southernmost Pointe. On December 14, 2018, Zach and Annalisa drove the golf cart they rented into breathtaking Fort Zachary Taylor State Park. As they pulled up to the shore, the world seemed to end with the aqua waves crashing against the rocks. Annalisa and Zach walked up to the edge of the shore, and as she turned to face him, he said, "I have something I wanted to ask you." and got down on one knee, revealing the most perfect ring of Annalisa's dreams. Annalisa was completely surprised (something she likes!) and of course said yes, yes, yes!
