This is a great brewery with an outdoor area that frequently hosts concerts and watch parties. One of the original Birmingham breweries - and always a good time.
Good People Brewing Company
This brewery is right by our venue! We love the beer here, and recommend grabbing a beer before or after the wedding! Be careful of the Snake Handler Double IPA - it's over 10% ABV.
Paramount Bar
This is a fun arcade bar right in the heart of downtown Birmingham. If you are staying at one of the hotels downtown - try this spot for food and drinks.
Automatic Seafood and Oysters
This is a James Beard finalist restaurant where everything on the menu is delicious! It is worth getting a reservation for Friday night or Saturday brunch - Kendra and Zach's new favorite spot!
Birmingham Civil Rights Institute
This museum explores the Civil Rights Movement and how the city played into the era. It has excellent curated exhibits that explore the injustice of our past.
Dreamland BBQ
If you are coming to the South (and not a vegetarian) - you must get some BBQ! This place is an Alabama original and so beloved that you can even get their food at a home Alabama football game.
SAW’s Soul Kitchen
Right by Avondale Brewery, this walkup restaurant is another great spot to try southern BBQ. It can get packed, and be prepared to eat outside on one of their picnic tables - or take your food To-Go over to Avondale for a beer.
Big Spoon Creamery
We are hoping for great weather during the weekend, and if you are in the Avondale area you need to check out Big Spoon Creamery - Delicious local ice cream.
El Barrio
One of our favorite restaurants in downtown Birmingham! They have great locally-sourced food, with good options for vegetarians and gluten-free folks. If you go, try the Queso Fundido and a Spicy Margarita.
The Market at Pepper Place | Saturday Farmers Market
This is a great Saturday Farmers Market where you can see some of our finest produce and home goods. It's a very popular spot for a Saturday morning stroll, and has plenty of coffee stands for our coffee enthusiasts.
Jim Reed Books / The Museum of Fond Memories
This is such a fun bookstore for a Saturday afternoon stroll. It has great used books at reasonable price points.
The Pizitz Food Hall
This historic building has been turned into a food hall. Check out the new food stands that rotate every few months.
Alabama Peanut Company
If you haven't tried boiled peanuts - you MUST while you are visiting Alabama! You can check out their website for their 'flavor menus' available fresh on each day. We recommend (at minimum) trying the Alabama Cajun and Classic Salt varieties.
Birmingham Museum of Art
This is a beautiful, completely free art museum located towards the north of downtown. It specializes in fine art from around the world, and showcases one of the largest collections in the Southeastern region.
The Essential
This is a great spot for brunch/lunch on the weekend! While you can't make reservations for Saturday & Sunday brunch, they are nestled on the beautiful, brick-lined Morris Avenue area so you can explore or grab a drink!

This delicious restaurant merges Italian flavors with Southern classics. A great place for a weekend brunch located in the heart of downtown!
Luna Latin Cuisine
This is a delicious spot where they specialize in infused vodka and tequila for their cocktails. Located right next to Avondale Brewery.
