We have known each other for most of our lives. We ended up meeting when we were in middle school, shortly after Zach moved to Minnesota from living in Arizona. Ironically, we even “dated” back then. If you can actually call it that being so young. Zach supposedly had even come to watch one of my hockey games when I played. I don’t recall this even happening, but he claims he did! Over the years we had remained friends. Maybe not as close of friends that we may have wanted to be, but we tried. We knew all the same people and enjoyed most of the same things. When I had moved to Arizona, Zach knew I was having a really hard time leaving. He even seen me before I had left and made me a promise that he would come to visit me because he would go visit his mom. I didn’t think he would actually keep that promise. But he did!
Zach kept his promise to me. He came to visit me while I have living in Arizona. I even had the chance to surprise him at his 18th birthday party. His mom found me on Facebook after he had apparently been talking very highly about me to her, so she wanted to surprise him by having me show up. At this point in our lives, we both knew that we wanted to be together, but was just not able to happen. When I decided to move back to Minnesota, I didn’t tell really anyone. I had come to Northfield one morning and happened to see Zach drive past me. I sent him a text message and freaked him out. We stopped and talked for a short period before we both had to go. Later that night, he came to visit with another friend of ours. We ended up going on a date then lost touch for a short period of time for various reasons. When we rekindled again, it was the beginning of us officially being a couple. Over the next 5 years, we continued to build as a family. Then Liam became a big brother. Maverick came into our lives, building our family even more. Not to mention, all of our fur babies as well! A total of 9 years together, and many more to follow.
I never thought that this day would ever come! But it did, after 8 long years! I secretly think he was sick of getting a hard time from everyone about when it was going to happen. We were at my Scofield family Christmas. Between him, Leigha, and mom, they had me sit in the middle of the room and put a blind fold on. Obviously, I knew something was up by that point. Next thing I know, he is in front of me, on his knee, asking me that question I have been longing to hear. Of course I was going to say yes! And now, the wedding will finally take place!
