While Zac had been in the dating world for several years, Kelly was fairly new to dating in the 2020s. Despite her withholdings, she decided to try online dating where she matched with Zac. She almost swiped left because she didn’t think it was gonna work “with another white guy”. Interestingly, on Zac’s side, God had spoken to him just two weeks before while cutting his grass that he wanted Zac to venture outside of his cultural norm in his dating. They went on their first date on May 8, 2024, and despite significant differences between, they have been choosing each other ever since.

While on spring break vacation in Massanutten with all of their six children, Zac and Kelly decided to visit White Oak Lavender Farm in Harrisonburg, VA. Kelly was admiring a gazebo there as a nice place for some kind of ceremony and Zac saw a prime opportunity to pop the question.
