In October of 2018, Jordie and I went on a girl's trip to Seattle. We did all of the typical Seattle things- the underground, a harbor tour, the Space Needle at night, and we ate lots of good food. We also spent a lot of time swiping on Jordie's dating app. I was not impressed with the men active in the DC area where she lives. So I decided to join an app to see if Alaska was filled with boring nobodies or someone special. Steph and I matched when I was in the airport on the way back home. We didn't stop talking until our first date on November 1, 2018.
Our first date was long awaited and we met at Alaska Coffee Roasting Company (ACRC) after work. It was around 7pm and was already dark outside. We walked in at the same time and I hurried in front of Steph so I could order and pay for my hot cider so she wouldn't be tempted to pay for me. Steph got a hot tea and we took a seat by a window. And then we talked and talked. We bonded on almost everything- the similarities in our lives, our love for our friends, and of course our tics. We talked about everything, religion, politics, having children. We agreed on everything. When we finally gave our goodbyes we gave each other a warm hug and said we need to do this again sometime.
