Once upon a time, a boy and a girl had decided to try their chance on an online dating app. Unknown to them, they would end up finding their futures just a few clicks away! The boy was named Matthew. Matthew was teaching down in Corpus Christi when he had decided to begin his search for a girl. He was searching for someone who was kind, smart, beautiful, witty, loving and had a big heart. He ended finding a girl named Yvonne, who was finishing her last year of college out in San Angelo and would be returning back home to Corpus Christi. She was searching for someone who was smart, handsome, sweet, cunning and who would be able to keep up with her energy. After a few messages back and forth, Matthew decided to ask for Yvonne's phone number. To his surprise she gave it to him! They began texting each other almost daily and they couldn't wait to meet each other in person. They had planned to meet the Monday after Yvonne moved back home. The day finally came, Yvonne was moving back to Corpus Christi. Something sparked a curiosity in both of them, so they decided to meet that same night Yvonne came into town. Matthew drove his ever faithful red Mazda to her parents' house, nervous of what to expect. From that first meeting, something sparked, and they found themselves immediately interested in one another. Date after date, they would become drawn to each other more and more. With that began the relationship between Yvonne and Matthew.
Y: We were on the Carnival Valor, enjoying a cruise for Thanksgiving break. Our first stop on the cruise was Cozumel, Mexico, and we had planned an excursion to go back to Isla Pasion. Little to known to me, Matt had chosen this spot as the place to pop the question. M: During our trip, I was very nervous that my plan could be spoiled. Running through my head was the possibility of me losing the ring, Yvonne finding the ring or even worse, me forgetting the ring back in Houston. Y: I had no idea that he even had the ring, I thought he was just nervous about being on the boat again. Anyways, we spent some time wandering around the shops until it was time for us to board the ferry to Isla Pasion. After we arrived, we went straight into the ocean and laid on the hammocks that were set out in the water. We were out there for awhile and then decided on getting lunch, exploring the little shops and relaxing in the chairs on the sand. M: I had originally thought about asking her in front of the Isla Pasion sign, but it had been destroyed. So, my quick thinking was to get Yvonne to go near the ocean, even though I knew she didn't trust after I tried throwing seaweed at her earlier. Once I got her close enough, I told her would you like to come back here a year from now to get married here, and then I got down on one knee and asked her if she would marry me. Y: I remember being so surprised that I kept saying, "Are you freaking kidding me?" And of course, I said yes! One thing that I do remember before he asked the question was we had gone by the chapel they had on the island. I found it humbling to see Matt go inside the chapel and kneel down to pray.
