Thank you for celebrating with us!

We first met our freshman year of college in an introductory seminar class at The University of Texas at Austin in 2012. We were both in a scholars organization called "Biology Scholars Program (BSP)", where 20 students are selected to take introductory courses together, as well as partake in research and community service as a cohort. Although we were in BSP together, we didn't really get to know each other until we took Calculus 1 together during our second semester of our Freshman year. We were forever bonded by a very (very) challenging Differential Equations professor who did not make our lives easy (we never want to speak of that class ever again). Ironically, it wasn't until a Halloween party the next semester where we noticed each other in a more romantic light. We sat for hours talking and playing games. Fast forward to finals week whenI found myself at the library with a dying laptop. Of course, I had forgotten my charger and did not want to walk back to my apartment knowing that I would not return to study. I reached out to several friends when Jared replied and came over with a handy dandy charger. I later found out that he was all the way across campus and came over anyway...isn't that sweet? He then stayed with me and about 30 minutes in we decided to go to IHOP. This inadvertently became our unofficial "first date". Shortly after, our first official date was at Barton Springs, smack in the middle of January. I took a quick plunge in the chilly water (he didn't) and we had a great time. After that, we basically spent all of our time together. It wasn't until Valentine's day that Jared decided to ask me to be his girlfriend. Unbeknownst at the time, Jared was actually extremely nervous and he didn't end up asking me until after midnight. So I decided our official anniversary date should be 2/15. That way we have Valentine's day plus our anniversary the next day!

You can now catch us in the Washington DC area adulting the best way we can. Jared is now a resident intern at MedStar Hospital through Georgetown's residency program. As for myself, I am in a graduate program through George Mason and Georgetown as well! - Yvonne
