-The Veil & Cord: During the ceremony, a large white veil is draped over the couple- over the groom's shoulders and around the bride- symbolizing they are now clothed as one. This is followed by a decorative cord (called a yugal) shaped into a figure-eight and looped around both of shoulders, representing the eternal bond and equality they share in their new life together. The veil and cord are typically handled by special sponsors, chosen for their loving and lasting marriages-they serve as role models for the couple. -The Arras: During the ceremony, 13 gold coins known as the arras are exchanged between the couple. The coins represent a shared promise of prosperity- a commitment to provide for one another and to steward their life together with care and wisdom. The exchange is a beautiful symbol of mutual trust and financial partnership as they build their future as one. -The Money Dance/Prospertiy Dance: At the reception, get ready to join in on one of the most joyful parts of a Filipino celebration - the money dance. Guests are invited to pin money onto the bride and groom's attire (on a sash with safety pins) during the dance, as a way of offering a gift and well-wishes for prosperity in their marriage. It's a fun, lively tradition, so feel free to participate and dance with us.
