How We Met

Halloween 2011

Her Story: On Halloween night 2011, I debated going out to celebrate Halloween on a work night. I called my dad to help me decide, and he had encouraged me to go for a short while. I told him I would take his advice, if I found a costume for less than $20.00. To my luck I found a cat costume on budget, and met up with Ces, Nancy, and Elisa at Matrix in San Francisco. At midnight, I told the girls that I wanted to head home. Ces: "Wait, let me walk you out, I have your souvenir from Bali. I know you wanted something that signifies love, and I found you a wooden scroll from an old Balinese woman off the side of the road. The woman explained that the carving is the Balinese Goddess of Love." Me: "Thank you Ces. Okay, let's go, oh wait - look at how cute the man sized Eeyore is - I am going to ask for a hug before I leave! lol." That's when I met David dressed up as Eeyore on the street, in front of a bar - no swiping right involved here. He asked me for my number, and I complied. The scroll is up in my room till this day! His Story: Love finds you when you least expect it. For me, it occurred on Halloween 2011. That night I was dressed in my best - a full-body Eeyore costume with stunna shades. My friends also dressed as Disney characters. There was Eeyore, Tigger, Pooh and Woody. We were quite the sight to see! As the group of us were walking into The Matrix, I caught a kitty cat with the most radiant smile approach me. She was a Disney fan because she asked me for a photo, and I happily obliged. We had a friendly conversation, an exchange of phone numbers and Facebook profiles, and the encounter ended, as she had to pick up something ""special"" from her friend's car. Yvette's story outlines just how lucky I was to have met her on Halloween, but I seized upon the opportunity by asking her out on a first date. As my friends and family know, the rest is history. Spending $50 on my costume was a great investment. Thank you, Lord.
