We both grew up in Oregon, although on opposite sides of the state. Jenna grew up in Bend and has called Arizona home for the past 18 years, while Yuriy grew up in Beaverton and made the move three years ago, ready to trade the rain for sunshine and something new. As fate would have it, we ended up living only 10 minutes apart in the East Valley. It all started with a like on Hinge, a shared love of reality TV and dogs, and what turned out to be a pretty solid foundation. Our first date was at Joyride Taco House in downtown Gilbert during the middle of summer when temperatures were well over 100 degrees. If we could survive that together, we figured we were off to a pretty good start. It didn't take long for us to realize how much we had in common. We're both Leos born six days apart in the same year (although different countries 6,000 miles apart), we both love traveling, true crime documentaries, and raving together, and we share the same sense of humor. Jenna got straight to the point early on in our first date, asking questions like, "Do you own or rent?" "How many kids do you want?" and "What are you actually looking for?" It might have scared some people off, but for Yuriy, it was exactly what he wanted. No games, just honesty from the very beginning. After dinner, Yuriy wanted ice cream. Jenna didn't, but she stayed to keep him company while he got some anyway. The date went incredibly well, although Yuriy tried to play it cool afterward so he wouldn't jinx anything. Since then, we've traveled all over together, including Tomorrowland in Belgium, Hawaii, Mexico, and Italy. We've gone to festivals and concerts, cheered at countless baseball, basketball, and football games, run races together, found some amazing restaurants, and made memories we'll never forget. Somewhere along the way, Yuriy was introduced to the gluten free lifestyle and, after a little convincing, fully embraced it. Yuriy proposed near the spot of our second date, making the moment feel especially full circle. Now we're getting married and getting ready to welcome our baby boy later this year, so it's safe to say life has been pretty exciting!
