Question

Will the ceremony and reception take place indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The entire event, including the ceremony and reception, will be held indoors. However, the ceremony will commence outdoors as we all walk down the path from the main gate of the shrine to the main prayer area. Keep in mind that to enter the prayer section, you'll be required to take off your shoes as part of the tradition.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Expect March weather in these cities to have average highs around 57°F (14°C) and lows of 41°F (5°C). While rainfall is generally low during this month, it's advisable to pack both a spring coat for the daytime and a thicker coat for the mornings and evenings to ensure comfort throughout your trip.

Question

How do I get to the wedding venue? Will transportation be provided?

Answer

Getting to the ceremony venue, Meiji Jingu, is convenient. You can find the easiest transportation options on their official website: https://www.meijijingu.or.jp/en/access/ Rest assured, you won't need to walk more than 5 minutes to reach the shrine. For transportation from the shrine to the reception venue, we've got you covered! We will provide a shuttle service to ensure a seamless transition to the next part of the celebration.

Question

What type of food and drink will be served during the reception?

Answer

The reception will feature traditional Japanese cuisine, including raw fish and other ingredients that may not be widely known in the US. We hope you appreciate the cultural experience through our food. Given dietary restrictions, please specify your food preferences in the RSVP form, and we'll do our best to accommodate your needs.

Question

Can I take pictures during the ceremony to post on social media?

Answer

Certainly! Feel free to capture as many pictures and videos as you'd like during the ceremony, except when we are in the main prayer area. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in preserving the sacred moments of that part of the event.

Question

I'm visiting from out of town. What can I do while I'm in Japan?

Answer

Japan offers a wealth of experiences for visitors! Check out the "things to do" tab on our website for recommended websites, YouTube videos, and travel discounts to enhance your stay. Feel free to explore these resources, and if you need further assistance or want to coordinate your trip plan, we're more than happy to help make your visit memorable!

Question

Do you have a wedding registry?

Answer

No, we don't have a wedding registry. Your presence is the greatest gift, and we truly appreciate everyone making the journey to Japan to celebrate with us :) However if you'd like to, there will be a table at the reception when checking in to the wedding.

Question

What is a Japanese wedding like?

Answer

The Japanese ceremony begins with a Shinzenshiki, a ritual to pray and make oaths to Japanese gods. We will merch down from the gate of shrine and walk all together to the main prayer area. Since Meiji Jingu is one of the biggest shrines in Tokyo, we will have many tourists around us as we walk down even though the path will be closed off for us. Unlike American receptions, ours won't have a dance floor, making it shorter. The focus is on enjoying food and connecting with guests to celebrate together. The fun continues at the after party, where we plan to create memorable moments for everyone.
