We're getting married!

They met fittingly on a rainy day on Rainey Street in Austin, Texas. Yuri was in town to run a half marathon while Dave was visiting from Chicago for a friend’s bachelor party. While their visits were for very different purposes, fate collided and they both ended up at The Bungalow Saturday afternoon (thus the wedding hashtag) #RememberTheBungalow. Dave had had a few rough party nights with a full house of guys and Yuri’s race was cancelled due to torrential rain. They ended up meeting at the bar, after Yuri went inside to get a drink for her and a cousin and Dave had just arrived. The conversation started and little did they both know that they were talking to their future husband and wife! They talked, laughed and connected over their love of running, sports and family. Before they knew it they were on to their next bar and a soon-to-be lifetime of adventures together. Before long, they began dating long-distance, Dave in Chicago and Yuri in South Texas…

Cape Cod, July 4, 2018. Dave and Yuri were celebrating Dave’s favorite holiday with his family and he had known for some time that was the day he wanted to pop THE question. He had stashed the ring in his sock drawer and had asked Yuri's father (with the help of a Spanish online translator) and her brothers' for their permission. The day was a beautiful one – blue skies, but humid as it gets on the Cape. The plan was to ask her before the annual family cookout. Dave chose the Knob, a scenic bluff overlooking the ocean in Woods Hole that is near and dear to Dave’s heart. After being questioned by Yuri about why they had to do this before the party, they started on the hike out to the bluff. Yuri was none too happy as the humidity made her perspire. Finally, Dave was able to coax her onto the beach next to the Knob. Dave dropped to one knee and asked for her hand in marriage. Her look of happiness and surprise is one they both will never forget. A woman saw the proposal and took pictures of this priceless moment. Dave and Yuri went back to the house and celebrated with extended family and friends. It was a beautiful and memorable day and a sign of even better things to come!
