We Are Getting Married!

At Henry Ford II High School, freshman year, Zach and Erica were placed in the same English class. Half way through the semester, their teacher assigned the students new seats and placed Zach and Erica right next to each other. They become friends in English class and as the years went on in high school, they had fewer and fewer classes together and grew further apart. The summer of their senior year, they reconnected and went on their first date October 7th, 2017. By October 24th, 2017, they were officially boyfriend and girlfriend when Zach asked Erica to be his girlfriend at the end of their study date at the library. This date is very special to them because not only did it initiate the start to their relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend, but it will also be the same date that they say "I do" in 2026! Zach and Erica have always enjoyed going up north to Zach's family's house during the summer, especially for the 4th of July. 4th of July weekend is always filled with spending time with family and friends, boat rides, tubing, good food, and lots of laughs. Fast forward to July of 2025, this year on 4th of July weekend, Zach's mom helped Zach plan for us all to go to Mackinac Island for a day. Little did Erica know that on that day on Mackinac Island, Zach was going to pop the big question. After a long hike to the Arched Rock, Erica just wanted to eat lunch, but Zach's younger brother, Tyler, wanted to go to the Grand Hotel. Although she may have been hangry, the whole crew walked their way to the Grand Hotel and made a stop on the way at the Secret Garden. Zach and Erica walked onto a bridge to get their picture taken with the fairytale scenery of flowers surrounding them and Zach got down on one knee, told Erica how much he loved her and asked her to marry him, and of course, Erica said yes! Zach also was able to surprise Erica by having some of her family there, hiding while he proposed!
