The groom, along with his groomsmen, is often blocked at the door by the bride’s family and must complete playful challenges (like answering riddles or giving red envelopes) to prove his love and sincerity. 2. Tea Ceremony (敬茶 Jìngchá) The tea ceremony is an important part of a Chinese wedding where the bride and groom serve tea to their parents and elders as a sign of respect. In return, the elders offer blessings and gifts (usually red envelopes with money). This ceremony symbolizes the couple's respect for their elders and marks the union of two families. It’s a gesture of gratitude and a key part of the marriage ritual.
