Just a short drive from the wedding venue, the Termales de Santa Rosa de Cabal are among the most beautiful hot springs in Colombia. The naturally heated waters hover around a perfect 40°C (104°F), making it the ultimate spot to relax before or after the wedding. There are two main areas to visit: the Balneario, famous for its stunning Cascada Santa Helena backdrop, and the more secluded Hotel Termales with its own private pools and spa. For a quieter escape, Termales San Vicente is about an hour away with six pools in a peaceful, off-the-beaten-path setting. Admission to the Balneario starts at around 72,000 COP (~$17 USD), and Palmarum can arrange transportation for you.
Explore the mystical cloud forest of Quindío, a unique ecosystem characterized by misty landscapes, lush vegetation, and rich biodiversity. Palmarum offers guided walks that take you through natural trails surrounded by towering trees, ferns, and endemic wildlife, offering a peaceful and immersive nature experience. Ideal for travelers seeking connection with nature, fresh air, and scenic views.
Explore the landscapes of Nevado del Ruiz, one of Colombia’s most iconic volcanoes, located in Los Nevados National Natural Park. Enjoy panoramic views, páramo ecosystems, and ash trails in a unique high-mountain environment.
A coffee-themed amusement park less than an hour from the venue. Explore interactive coffee exhibits, ride cable cars with mountain views, catch a traditional dance show, or hop on roller coasters. Fun for all ages and a great way to spend a full day.
Although it's not close to the wedding venue, if this is your first time visiting Colombia, Cartagena is worth the trip. Located on the Caribbean coast, it's one of the most stunning cities in the country. The walled Old Town is full of colonial architecture, colorful streets, and charming plazas that are perfect for wandering. Beyond the history, Cartagena has great beaches, a lively nightlife scene, amazing food, and easy access to nearby islands like the Rosario Islands and Playa Blanca for a true beach day. It's about a one-hour flight from Pereira or Medellín, making it an easy add-on if you want to extend your trip with some Caribbean sun.
If you're flying through Medellín's international airport (José María Córdova), which is just a 50-minute flight from Pereira, we definitely recommend spending a few days here. Known as the "City of Eternal Spring" for its year-round pleasant weather, Medellín sits in a valley surrounded by green mountains and is one of Colombia's most vibrant cities. Take the Metro and Metrocable for amazing views of the city, explore the famous Comuna 13 street art scene, visit Plaza Botero, or check out the many parks, museums, and libraries that make this city so unique. It's also a great base for day trips to Guatapé (see below) and the surrounding towns. Medellín has something for everyone — great food, exciting nightlife, and a welcoming energy that makes it easy to see why so many visitors fall in love with it.
If you're spending time in Medellín, a day trip to Guatapé is a must. About two hours from the city, this small lakeside town is known for its colorful streets, where buildings are decorated with hand-painted panels called zócalos. The main attraction is La Piedra del Peñol — a massive rock with over 740 steps to the top, offering incredible panoramic views of the reservoir below. You can also take a boat tour on the lake or just wander the town and grab a meal by the water. Many tour operators in Medellín offer affordable full-day trips that include transportation, the rock, and a boat ride.
