Esther and Alex had their first date at Tamaribar in Capital Hill, Seattle. They started with drinks and some appetizers, and the conversation felt so organic and natural. Eventually, the reservation time ended, and Alex asked Esther if she “wanted to continue the date over dinner.” He was not expecting her to say “no”! Her climbing gym happened to be close to the restaurant, and she had brought her gear so she could go right after the date. He was so rizzed (his words), and he knew he wanted to go on a second date! Alex and Esther grew closer with their shared love of hobbies, though their skill levels were vastly different. Alex pushed Esther with hikes such as Mailbox, Silver Peak, and Oyster Dome; Esther encouraged Alex to slow down and enjoy spending time with what they had. Alex took Esther everywhere around Washington, and she grew to love both him and Seattle.
