Three and a half years ago, John was solo on a couples ski trip with some friends, including Grace's bridesmaid Kate. He was ninth wheeling, complaining about a perceived lack of eligible women in Denver, when Kate told him about Grace. Kate was, however, proving John's point because Grace was living in San Diego. They followed each other on Instagram but that's as far as it went, with John promptly unfollowing Grace when he got into a new relationship. But Grace loyally continued to follow John. Fast forward a few years and Grace was living in Sun Valley Idaho, with bridesmaid Charlotte, and they decided to download Hinge. Grace put her location anywhere she thought a good husband might be from, including London, Australia, Texas, and Denver. While "in" Denver, John sent Grace a message, to which she replied that he looked very familiar. Together, they figured out that their valiant friend (bridesmaid) Kate had tried to set them up in 2021, so they started chatting, John flew Grace out to Denver for their first date, and the rest is history!
