We originally met at our college bar, Maggie Mays, in October 2017. Though this was our first interaction, it was our only, until months later when we reconnected at that same bar in March 2018.

Our proposal happened in California while Sara was away for three months on a travel contract. Matt came out to visit her for a few weeks and decided to take her on a trip down to his hometown area, Dana Point CA. One evening, he took her to Salt Creek Beach, a spot his family frequented during his childhood, to watch the sunset. Matt ended up popping the question while his childhood friend Nick, took photos from afar.
