We met in the infamous 2020 on a dating app called Hinge ("the app designed to be deleted"). Our first date was on July 8, 2020 at Elmhurst Brewing Company on arguably the hottest day of the year. Hailey was initially attracted to Charlie's sense of humor, attentiveness, and emotional maturity. Charlie liked Hailey’s smile and personality. Hailey made Charlie officially ask her to be his girlfriend soon afterwards in September 2020. We often argue (i.e., lovingly debate) about who said "I love you" first. Hailey is convinced she wins for hinting at the "L word" first, but Charlie says he wins for officially saying "I love you" first during our annual Christmas party with the Mays and Corrigans in December 2020 (hey, guys). Charlie popped the question on October 15th, 2022 at the Chicago Botanical Gardens. He surprised her with a small engagement party at our favorite pizza place, Salerno's, with our immediate families and some of our closest friends. It remains one of the best days of our lives. After three years of commuting back-and-forth between Skokie and North Aurora, we finally moved in together in August 2023. And they were roommates! We have experienced so much during our first 3 years of life together: new jobs, new living situations, travel adventures, holiday traditions, a pandemic, and the routine high's and low's of everyday life.
