Question

FAQs about mass

Answer

What is a nuptial mass? A nuptial mass is a Catholic wedding ceremony celebrated within the context of the full Eucharistic liturgy. It follows the same structure as a regular Sunday mass, with the addition of the wedding rite — the exchange of vows, rings, and blessings — woven into the celebration. How long does the mass last? A nuptial mass typically lasts 60 minutes. Do I have to be Catholic to attend? Absolutely not — all are welcome regardless of faith background. You are invited to participate in singing, prayer, and the responses as much or as little as feels comfortable for you. Can non-Catholics receive communion? Communion is reserved for baptized Catholics who are in good standing with the Church. If you are not Catholic, you are warmly welcome to come forward with your arms crossed over your chest to receive a blessing from the priest instead — you will not be left out of the moment. Is there a program I can follow? Yes! We will have programs available at the door that outline the order of the mass and include the responses so you can follow along easily. What should I wear? Business casual is a great guide — think what you might wear to a nice dinner or a professional event. The church is air-conditioned, so a light layer is always a good idea. What if I arrive late? Please try to arrive a few minutes early so you can find your seat before the procession begins. If you do arrive after the mass has started, an usher will help you find a seat quietly.
