We met on an app called Coffee Meets Bagel – yes, from Shark Tank. I had a song lyric in my profile and Kyle was the only person to pick up on it. We started talking about bands, shared songs, and eventually exchanged numbers. After texting for a little over a month, Kyle suggested that we meet at Chameleon Club for a show I was already planning on going to. I was pretty annoyed at the time that he invited himself, but now I’m glad he did!
I knew I had wanted to do something before the year ended. My original idea for a few days earlier had fallen through, so I was in a bit of a panic. Fast forward to Christmas Eve and I'm having dinner with my family while Stephanie is working her closing shift at her second job. After talking about a bunch of suggestions with my mom and sister, I had narrowed it down to that night, the next morning, or Christmas night. I felt like that night would have been the most surprising of the three considering she would have just been getting off of work so I decided that was what I was going to do. I called her and acted like I wanted to start a "new Christmas tradition" with her, one where we watch a Christmas movie and open one gift early on Christmas Eve. After she got home I told her that the early gift I was going to give her was in the attic and too big to wrap, so she was going to need to just close her eyes and turn around. I came down the stairs with my "giant gift", got down on my knee, told her to turn around, and the rest is history.
