Marissa and Kyle met briefly at a Dillinger Escape Plan Show many years ago, but their real introduction was December 30, 2016 at a metal potluck with mutual friends. They connected and began going on dates until they became a couple on January 22, 2017, which is also Marissa's birthday. Their first date was at a Buffalo Wild Wings in Bridgewater, New Jersey. Kyle was shocked at how open and up-front Marissa was about her goals and her life. Marissa was shocked at how kind and down-to-Earth Kyle was. They felt comfortable with each other and communication was open and honest from the start This is what built the solid foundation their relationship has today. Kyle left for graduate school at the University of Delaware and they commuted 2.5 hours every weekend for a long time to make time for each other. They talked on the phone every night and sent "how's your day" texts throughout the day to show they were thinking of each other. They put in the time, effort, energy, and sacrifice to make things work and they would do it all again. On August 25, 2018, Marissa moved in with Kyle in Delaware not knowing a soul there and started her career almost completely over again. She succeeded and was cast in new, exciting opera roles and built her web-design/social media business, Marissa Young Works, from the ground up. Kyle got his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering and great job at Sargent & Lundy. They both made new, lifelong friends. On December 26, 2020, they got engaged, but they had been planning it for months. They got a dog named Pepper on January 22, 2020 and she brings so much love to their already loving home. Marissa and Kyle have supported each other through good and bad times. Many concerts, museums, podcasts, shows, video games, and laughs later, they are getting married.
