After almost eight years in Massachusetts, Abby finally gave in to the increasing pull to live closer to her family and moved to Chicago in 2020. Little did she know, it wasn't just her sisters awaiting her there. Enter Alex. Born and raised in Chicago, he spent his time working, working, and working some more. Longing for a small army of children (kidding), he decided it was time to find a companion. The two matched on Hinge (a dating app) just a few months after Abby moved to Chicago. She was so indecisive about which way to swipe on his profile, that she almost missed out! But that's a story for another time... After a week of chatting to see who was catfishing whom, their first date was a week later on October 26th at Farm Bar in Lakeview. Their many shared values, similar visions for the future, and traditionally awkward silences that weren't awkward at all led them to sense real potential and a desire for more. One date turned into two, with how irresistible they are. Then the pandemic hit and the world shut down, causing Abby and Alex's relationship to mainly consist of never leaving the couch while binging movies and shows, going on winter walks (as in two), and talking for hours. After seven weeks of dating, they both got Covid and had to quarantine together for two weeks. They didn't get sick of each other, so they knew it must be real. An apartment flood, the loss of loved ones, job changes, five weddings, a house hunt, Covid again, a bigger couch and TV, and more, followed. All the while, Alex was sitting (not so subtly) on a big secret and, after procrastinating for quite some time, finally asked Abby to marry him on December 26th, 2021. She immediately responded with a delicate "yes, please!" and the rest is history. Well, technically, the rest is the present, and they are so excited to celebrate their love and marriage with you!
