They met in 8th grade social studies class (technically 6th grade homeroom - but who's keeping track). Cameron started talking to Jackie and sending her notes in class. Until one day at the very end of the school day, Cameron decided to ask Jackie to be his girlfriend. Jackie said yes, but then broke up with Cameron the very next day with a note. (Yes, she broke up with him in a note, and yes, Cameron still brings it up). Cameron and Jackie continued to talk and hang out together on the weekends and with friends. They always seemed to have had a connection that was obvious to everyone. Jackie still wanted to date Cameron, but he was reluctant and no longer wanted a girlfriend. None of their friends could understand why they weren't together. At the end of 10th grade, Jackie moved to Perkasie. They both thought that was the end of what could have been. They each went on to date other people, but they always kept in touch and hung out once or twice a year. The timing was always off for them. Cameron decided to text Jackie the one night, not knowing she just had her baby, Siena. Jackie thought for sure after Cameron finding out about the birth of Siena that he would never want to date her and that that would be the end of their story. However, Cameron continued to talk to Jackie. Cameron wasn't sure how he felt about being a "step dad". He knew he wanted to be with Jackie, but adding a baby in to the mix wasn't something he had planned for. They continued to talk and then went out on a date to Chambers where Cameron's best friend, Justin, bartends. Step by step, they slowly eased Cameron into the "dad" role. It didn't take long for Cameron to not only fall in love with Jackie, but to fall in love with Siena too. He embraced the role as "dad" and knew he wanted to spend forever with Jackie and Siena, and Jackie finally got her happily ever after. Some things do last forever after all.
