    Local Tips

Local Tips

C&V’s TOP TEN TIPS 1. Do not drink the water. Always have bottled water on your person. 2. Be discerning about what you eat. Medium rare meat is fine, various raw greens are not. 3. Antigua is walkable and incredibly charming to explore on foot. Note that the streets are cobblestoned. 4. Driving in Guatemala can be precarious, so only rent a car if you feel very comfortable driving on congested highways and steep mountain roads. 5. Most hospitality staff speak English. But Spanish is appreciated! 6. Tipping is not part of the local culture. 7. During February, the middle of the day will be hot, and the mornings and evenings will be cooler, so pack layers. 8. Have cash. The local currency is quetzals. 9. Cerro de la Cruz provides stunning views of Antigua. 10. Sensitive sleepers should consider earplugs if they stay in the hotels that are right on the bustling streets where noise begins early in the mornings.
