Mr. Melaku Mekuria & Mrs. Genet Baraki and Ms. Tigist Welda formally invite you to their children's wedding.
I met Feviye at church. She moved down from Seattle for school. She started coming to church but I didn't notice her at first. After she graduated from college, I started seeing her at the gym, it's not what you thought right? I didn't pay attention at church but something at the gym caught my eye. Even playing the keyboard where I can see everyone, still didn't notice her. I started going to the gym at night so that I would be able to see her, I had a feeling she would be there. It was a win/win, I would be able to see her and still work on my goal of losing weight. One day we planned to go to the gym at the same time. I asked her to wait for me to go. After our workout, I looked at her and asked, "Are you hungry?" She said, "Yeah, I can eat," I am so glad she said yes. On the drive to In-N-Out, I remember thinking to myself, "Did I just do that." Now 3/4 years later we're planning a wedding.
On May 6th of 2018, Israel got down on one knee and asked me to give him my hand in marriage. When I woke up on that beautiful morning, I woke up really anxious. It was almost like something told me something big was going to happen that day. (Clearly, I am the worst person to try surprising) It was a Sunday and we all planned on where to go for lunch just like any other Sunday after church service. However, on this day it was different because there were more people than usual. Still, I was telling myself that nothing was going to happen even though I kept having that feeling. After lunch, Israel suggested we hangout at sunset cliff. It is my favorite spot in San Diego and we were close by so I was excited to go there with friends. When we arrived at sunset cliff, we all started taking pictures and then Israel suggested we take a picture together. After a few shots I started to walk away but he held my hand and said “wait, hold on a minute.” When I turned around, there he was, getting down on one knee. In that moment, it did not matter that I had a feeling something was going to happen, I was the happiest girl. It’s amazing how God works. One year before this day, our church pastor saw a promise ring on my wedding finger. He came up to me and asked me to take it off unless I was engaged on marriage. He said, “It is not good to have a ring on that finger as it is kept for the person I marry.” Here we were a year later, with his own son on one knee putting a ring on that same finger.
