Before either of us had even proposed to the other, we had decided our wedding would be October 3rd, 2020 in celebration of our ten-year anniversary. Then things got weird. When it became clear 2020 was not an option for a big party, we rescheduled to October 23rd, 2021 and got legally married in our new home with just two witnesses on Christmas Eve 2020. Then things kept getting weirder. In light of a new spike and international borders being closed, we discussed at length with our family and postponed again. On October 29th, 2022 -- in our 13th year together -- we are at long last going to have the REAL wedding and we look forward to seeing all of you there! We're older, wiser, and weathered. Since the pandemic began, Phi has taught continuously, including summer schools, and was one of the first teachers in the New York City Department of Education to begin serving children in-person again. yoshi left the New York Neo-Futurists and began working as FRIGID New York's General Manager just in time to help the first New York City in-person theatrical show to reopen. And in 2022, yoshi also began working as National Queer Theater's Business Manager where they've had a whirlwind experience producing the 4th Annual Criminal Queerness Festival at Lincoln Center. It has been a weird couple of years. Please come connect with us and share this exciting opportunity to celebrate what truly matters: friends, family, and love.
...despite our best intentions, 12 years have come and gone... However, we're back. We're still here, still together, and still looking forward to celebrating with you all! We will do everything we can to make this party happen this year on this date. Everyone involved in the wedding will have an understudy to guarantee the party can go on regardless of any absences caused by last-minute positive COVID tests. This includes Phi & yoshi -- if one of us tests positive, one of you will have to marry the other one of us. And if we both test positive, Jack Plowe is going to officiate two of you getting married, ceremony & party courtesy of us.
After dancing around each other for the better part of a year, both in-person and long-distance, Phi and yoshi finally got together. Upon hearing the news, a mutual friend said to Phi "I heard you were dating yoshi, but I said 'No, they're smarter than that.'" Despite the fact that this remains one of yoshi's favorite things anyone's ever said about them, Phi is eternally grateful that it's simply not the case. Over the past twelve years, the couple has navigated the perilous waters of: undergraduate studies, moving, various roles with non-profit arts companies in NYC, moving again, long-distance graduate studies, and (most-likely) many more challenges to come. Throughout it all, they've supported and inspired one another - systematically weaving themselves into the lives of their mutual friends, families, and loved ones. When one falls, the other's right there to catch them on the way down and help them get back on their feet. yoshi and Phi are so incredibly happy to celebrate years of adventure, with infinitely more to come! They hope you will join them.
