Rent bikes at Piedmont Park, and explore midtown and the surrounding hoods along the Beltline. Get a drink at Ladybird or New Realm Brewery. Grab lunch at Ponce City Market or Krog Street Market. Go skateboarding in the Old Fourth Ward. The options are endless. (Address: Park Tavern)
After grabbing a cold foamer at New Realm, keep the buzz going at Monday Night, Red Brick, Atlanta Brewing Company, or the A-town classic: Sweetwater. The website has 25 recommendations, but it's definitely not complete. Regardless, we have not yet been to all 25, so please report back with reviews and recommendations. (Address: Sweetwater)
If it's rainy or the prospects of hiking, biking, and drinking sound like too much, go check out a few classic Atlanta Museums. The Atlanta History Center in Buckhead is a personal favorite of ours, but you can't go wrong with the High Museum of Art or the Civil Rights Museum or the Center for Puppetry Arts or probably any other. (Address: Atlanta History Center)
If you find your interest peaked by the Cyclorama at the Atlanta History Center--and you'd like to go see the real thing--you should consider exploring some Civil War battlefields. Hike Kennesaw Mountain and see where Sherman burst through his last major obstacle before taking Atlanta (it's a little ways out of town, but there’s a great roadside biscuit place on the way). (Address: Kennesaw Mountain)
Continue (or start) your biking adventure by heading down from midtown to Oakland Cemetery and continue south to Grant Park. It's a great way to combine parks, history, biking, and beautiful neighborhoods. You can even end your day at the zoo (south end of Grant Park) if you're feeling it. Or just grab some food and margaritas at Tin Lizzy's or Mi Barrio. (Address: Grant Park)
