Our story began in the most unexpected place—an interview. I was conducting a routine hiring interview for a position, and he was the candidate sitting across from me. There was an instant connection, an unspoken spark, but that was the extent of it—after all, I would soon become his boss. In the days that followed, our paths crossed more frequently than either of us had expected. He would come to me with questions, always pushing the boundaries of the professional and personal. There was a subtle but obvious interest in more than just work-related matters. And while I tried to maintain my composure as his superior, he made no secret of his attraction for me to everyone else around.It was bold, and at times, amusing to hear from colleagues how openly he spoke of his admiration. Then one day, we had an in-depth conversation about life, faith, and how we both enjoyed going to brunch. It was casual, but meaningful. He didn’t have social media, but decided to reach out to me the only way he knew how—via LinkedIn. He asked me out, but I ignored it, feeling a professional boundary needed to be maintained. Yet, he remained consistent. His determination was something I admired, though I wouldn’t let him know that just yet. The moment that changed everything came one afternoon when he handed me a note. “Hey Yoyo,” he said with a smirk, “look what a customer gave me.” Inside was his number, along with a simple message: “Consistency is key.” It was playful, direct, and surprisingly endearing. We had previously discussed why things never seemed to work out in past relationships, and in that moment, I realized he had been listening. His persistence, his charm, and most importantly, his consistency, broke down the walls I had been trying to keep up. We went on our first date shortly after, and the connection was undeniable. Not long after, we took a trip to New York together—a city filled with energy and excitement that seemed to mirror how we felt about each other. It was there, surrounded by the city’s magic, that we truly fell in love. The rest, as they say, was history. Fast forward, and he planned a surprise engagement that was everything I had ever dreamed of. I had once told him that if he were to propose, I would want my entire immediate family there to share the moment with me. And on that special evening, he made sure that dream came true. Surrounded by my family at a dinner, he got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. It was perfect—more than I could have imagined. From an interview to a proposal, our journey has been nothing short of amazing, and I’m so grateful that his consistency brought us to this beautiful moment.
