Isaac proposed to me in Lake Marian during our hike in Milford Sound. Needless to say it's one of our favourite place! Feel free to message us for recommendations around Milford Sound.
It’s best to treat this drive as a sightseeing experience and take it slow. There are heaps of places to stop along the way, including simple roadside viewpoints and popular hiking trails. If you were in a hurry and didn’t stop along the way it’d take around 45 minutes to drive from Queenstown to Glenorchy. One of the best places to stop between Queenstown and Glenorchy is Bob’s Cove. It’s a short hike a stunning beach, but if you have the time you should climb up to the nearby lookout for an incredible view. We highly recommend driving to Glenorchy to stroll through Glenorchy lagoon board walk too!
With tap bears, wines and mulled wine, your favourite drink will be complemented with unobstructed views of surrounding mountains. Situated right in the heart of downtown Queenstown. A little advice from us to you, take your favourite takeaway food whether it's tacos from Taco medic or burgers from Fergburger and take in all the breathtaking views that Perky's offers!
The only indications that you've arrived are the unmarked blue doors – push them open and it's like stepping into a prohibition-era speakeasy. When we first visited, we fell in love with the low ceilings, the open fire and the abundant amount of candles. We suggest having tapas at our favourite restaurant La Rumbla and stopping here for live music and a drink before heading home!
Roy's peak was our first hike together in ever. The track begins by zigzagging along a steep 4WD track from the carpark to the conservation area. From there, continue on through wild tussock grasslands until you reach Roy's Peak summit. Along the way, take time to enjoy the spectacular views from the ridgeline, which take in most of Lake Wanaka and the surrounding peaks, including Mount Aspiring. When we say it gives you 360 degree views - we mean it!!
