How We Met

August 30, 2019

I was sitting with my parents watching a movie, when across the house I could see a beautiful woman speaking with my sister Esther. I asked who she was and my mother responded with Madison a friend of Esther’s and finished by asking me if I was going to go talk to her. I responded with « Of course, she is gorgeous! » and marched myself over and introduced myself. The rest is history -Yonnic I was at an event with some friends & my friend Esther (who I’ve always called Belle) had invited me to a social dance in a park that night. We first drove over to her house, with a couple of her younger brothers. I remember walking into their dining area & meeting some of her family. That’s when I met her older brother, Yonnic. I personally don’t remember him saying much, I think he had waved & said hi. Afterwards however, we thankfully did get the opportunity to talk for a while & spend some time together & with some of his younger siblings. It was very sweet & we are both so grateful for that night. ♡ -Madison

The Proposal

May 14, 2020

I had a plan in place. The 16th of May (a Saturday) was a few days after my graduation from Southern Methodist University and I planned to propose to Madison then. When I woke up on a Thursday it was already getting hot so I checked the weather. Much to my surprise, Saturday was showing thunderstorms and I planned to propose to Madison at the same location Arbor Hills Nature Preserve as our first date, which was outdoors. I sat on it thinking for an hour or so and then quickly made a decision: at 9:00 AM I called Madison and told her to get ready and wear her white dress because I was on my way to pick her up. I told Esther that it was happening today and asked if she would be able to go with me to take photos and we quickly set off. I dropped Esther off at the nature preserve to lay in wait for us to come and picked up Madison. By this point she figured out what was going on and was just in the dark of the location until we pulled into the familiar preservation of natural beauty. We took a walk holding hands and talking until we made it up to the summit of a small hill that has a tower overlooking the preserve. Excitement bubbling out of my chest we walk up to the tower and find it taped off for painting but the paint had dried so we snuck in and stood overlooking the trees and plains until I mustered up the courage, got down on one knee and asked the second biggest question of my life only to asking Jesus to be in my heart. I saw Madison’s eyes water up and a tear began to fall as she said she would love to. We laughed with joy as I put the ring on her hand and began to take photos for the fun of it savoring the moment and daydreaming of a future growing in our relationship with God and each other.

For all the days along the way
