Jewish Wedding Traditions
KABALAT PANIM:
Before the ceremony, Lauren will be seated to greet friends and family. At the Tisch, Yoni delivers words of Torah while friends and family offer toasts and sing songs. At the end of the Tisch, a group will escort Yoni to Lauren amid song and dance. Lastly, Yoni will approach Lauren and lower her veil.
KETUBAH:
The Ketubah is the Jewish marriage contract, setting forth the obligations and commitments made between Lauren and Yoni. The Ketubah will be signed by two witnesses.
CHUPPAH:
During the ceremony, the bride and groom stand under a Chuppah. The Chuppah symbolizes the home that Lauren and Yoni will build together.
CIRCLING:
When Lauren enters the Chuppah, she will circle Yoni seven times, symbolizing the creation of their new life together.
BREAKING THE GLASS:
To conclude, Yoni will break a glass under his foot to recognize the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem. After the glass breaks, everyone will shout "Mazal Tov!"
