Our story began on a sunny day at Coney Island Beach in Brooklyn, New York. Neisha was visiting New York with a friend when she was invited to spend the day at the beach with her friend and her cousins. Always up for an adventure and the chance to meet new people, she happily said yes. Among the group was Yomi. While everyone spent the day laughing, talking, and enjoying the beach, Yomi barely spoke to Neisha. In fact, the only thing he asked her all day was whether the owl necklace she was wearing was a Drake OVO necklace! Yomi was pleased to find out it wasn't. As the day came to an end and the group began heading home, darkness had fallen. Because of her sight loss, Neisha found herself separated from the group and unsure of her surroundings. She called out for help, and hearing her voice, Yomi turned around and came back to guide her . What may have seemed like a simple act of kindness became the beginning of something much bigger. Despite living in different countries—Neisha in Canada, and Yomi in the U.S.—their connection continued to grow. Countless phone calls, weekend visits, and miles traveled brought them closer together. What started as a chance meeting at the beach blossomed into a friendship, then a love story built on kindness, patience, laughter, and unwavering commitment. Along the way, we've learned to navigate more than just long distances. We've spent years traveling between Toronto and New York, creating memories, sharing adventures, and proving that love can overcome almost anything—including the ongoing debate about why the NBA champions New York Knicks are clearly the better team than the Toronto Raptors. Today, we are excited to celebrate the next chapter of our journey with all of you.
