Chris presented to the Oral Surgeons office for a consultation to discuss the removal of his remaining wisdom teeth. Chris then meets Yoli who helped him through his initial evaluation. Small talk was had but professionalism was kept throughout their first encounter. The following day, Chris and Yoli matched on Bumble! It was too serendipitous of an event to go against God’s will. They shared their first date two days later at the Chop House in Denver and the rest is history.
As you may recall what a crazy time this was becoming with the pandemic arising and the world shutting down. Around this time, we were planning to attend a wedding in Sarasota, Florida for one of Chris’ close childhood friend, but had been cancelled just days before. Chris was adamant on going to Florida still and Yoli thought he was just insane, but they went anyway. Once they had arrived to Florida, Nadia (who had been there too as she was part of the proposal planning process), made plans for dinner reservations and Yoli was instructed to dress up nice for this dinner. They all walked along to the beach at sunset, towards the restaurant of where the dinner reservations were for the evening. Chris and Yoli stumbled upon a beautifully built sand castle decorated with candles. In Awe, Yoli approached the sand castle only to discover the words “Chris & Yoli, will you marry me?” Instant tears filled Yoli’s eyes. Chris drops down to one knee with an engagement ring in hand. Yoli was so excited, she didn’t even realize she didn’t ever actually say “Yes.” It wasn’t until seconds later, Chris tells Yoli that he had arranged for their familes to be there to celebrate with them. She looked around and there were his and her parents and siblings. It had been one of the most memorable and exciting moments of their lives.
