The story of Hannah and Joey is one of two ships in the night, who ended up bumping into one another last summer and realized they really liked each other. Their acquaintance can be traced back to days of old when Hannah was just a young sister-in-law of Joey’s good friend Levi, and Joey was for some reason always around at her family’s events. They were many times in close proximity but rarely a word spoken between them. It didn’t help that Joey never wore shoes, had an overly adventurous reputation, and Hannah didn’t want to spend every waking moment jumping into the ocean, climbing treacherous rocks, and hiking or cycling all over the north coast, which kept him and her at a safe distance... and besides, Joey wouldn’t dare ask Levi about his sister-in-law. So things continued that way, for years.. punctuated by brief moments of interaction, which both took to heart but neither would admit. All the while, Hannah and Joey each received a steady stream of intelligence about the other from Levi and his wife Brianne (who is also Hannah’s sister). But something changed in the summer of 2024. Joey was invited to spend a week with Hannah’s family in Oregon. There is a lot that can be said but suffice it to say that that week spent camping together with the family gave them a chance to meet each other as if for the first time. They ate together, they rode bikes together, they stayed up late around the campfire talking together. After returning from Oregon, it was only a matter of time. Joey needed to spend more time with Hannah. Over the following days and weeks, their fondness for one another grew and grew and it became very clear to each of them that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. With her parents’ blessing, Joey asked Hannah to marry him and the rest is history. Ta-da! It took years.
