The Story of Us

It all started on a warm Fourth of July evening—the kind of night where sparklers danced in every direction and laughter floated through the summer air. We were at a mutual friend’s backyard party just hanging with our usual separate crowds until I asked Yogesh if I could pick some songs to be played next (of course he was the only one connected to the speaker). We talked for a while, nothing dramatic—just easy conversation, the kind that doesn’t require effort. There was a spark, subtle but real, like the first firework that quietly shoots into the sky before exploding. And yet, when the night ended, we went our separate ways. No numbers exchanged. No bold declarations. Just a moment filed away in the quiet corners of our minds. Then came New Year’s Eve. Another party. Same crowd. But this time, fate wasn’t subtle. There we were again—same eyes, same laugh, same pull we remembered from that summer night. The countdown to midnight echoed in the background, but we were already lost in our own conversation. This time, we didn’t let it slip away. Something about that second meeting felt different, like life had circled back on purpose. Our first few dates felt like home. We bonded over our families, over all the hilarious and terrible decisions we’d made in our younger years, and over the dreams we were quietly chasing. With every conversation, the future started to take shape—not in abstract terms, but in shared hopes. And laughs. So many laughs. Since then, it’s been us—through the ordinary and the extraordinary, choosing each other every day. What started as a chance encounter under the July sky turned into something neither of us could ignore. And now, we get to build our forever—together. We are so grateful for all of those who have been a part of our journey and those who are taking time out of their busy lives to celebrate us coming together. We cannot thank our parents and our families enough for all of their support and guidance leading up to the big day. Especially our parent's who have been willing to keep their minds open and work with each other to merge two families together. It is so rare to have all of our family and friends in one place to celebrate a milestone, but that is all we wanted - to have all of our favorite people surrounding us with their well-wishes and love. So make sure to save your energies, because this is going to be a fun weekend!
