Like many classic love stories, ours began in true Bucknell fashion: at the local college-town bar. Dylan was working as a bouncer, checking IDs and keeping the peace—completely unaware Allie was checking him out instead. For her, it was love at first sight—though she’d never admit how many times she made excuses to end up at that bar just to catch another glimpse of him. Still, despite her instant crush, it took her a few weeks (and a lot of courage) to finally gather the confidence to walk up and introduce herself. When she did, she quickly discovered Dylan was more than the handsome face at the door. He was a Jeep-loving, outdoorsy Pennsylvania-Tennesee gentleman—who also happened to be the assistant golf professional at the Bucknell Golf Club. During our first real conversation, Dylan casually asked Allie, “Do you golf?” Without hesitation, and without much truth, Allie said, “Yes!” The reality? She hadn’t swung a club since she was 10 years old, and even then, it hadn’t gone particularly well. But when you’ve just met someone who makes your heart skip ten beats, you don’t let small details like athletic ability get in the way. So, when Dylan invited Allie to meet him at the golf course for our first date, she did what any determined girl would do: panic. Then, she skipped class, drove to Dick's Sporting Goods, and bought herself an entire set of golf clubs and outfits. She was convinced that if she looked the part, she could fake her way through the rest. For a while, it worked—until Dylan noticed her driver still had its plastic covering on. Luckily, instead of running the other way, Dylan thought it was adorable (and, so began the start of Dylan's incredible patience for Allie's crazy ideas). And just like that, a love story was born. From that moment on, golf wasn’t just Dylan's passion anymore—it became a shared dream, a favorite hobby, and a go-to date activity. Over time, Allie fell in love not just with Dylan, but also with the sport that meant so much to him. She picked up the game herself, and before long, she was caddying for Dylan at tournaments, cheering him on through every swing. In fact, some of our favorite memories have been made in golf carts—laughing at bad swings, celebrating the great ones, and realizing that both on and off the course, we make an amazing team. In turn, Dylan fell in love with Allie and all the pieces of her world: New Jersey Italian food, spontaneous shopping trips to Nordstrom Rack, and car rides filled with over-the-top American Idol–style duets. Soon after Allie’s graduation from Bucknell, we took another big step: moving to New Jersey, the state where Allie grew up. It was a leap of faith that turned out better than we could have imagined. Dylan accepted a position as an assistant golf professional at Shackamaxon Country Club—a course that would become so much more than just his workplace. It’s the very place where we will say “I do" and begin our forever. Looking back, it’s hard to believe our whole journey started with a fib about golf skills and a driver wrapped in plastic. And, while golf is still a huge part of our lives, our story is about so much more: laughter, patience, loyalty, partnership, shared dreams, and a love that only grows stronger with each new adventure. So, here we are: from a bar door in a small college town, to a big, fat, classic New Jersey wedding. What began as love at first sight has grown into a love meant to last a lifetime. We are beyond excited to begin this next chapter of our lives together—surrounded by our families, friends, and, of course our beloved fur-baby, Forest (who will be absolutely thrilled to see all of his favorite humans together in one place).
