It was the first night that Jared attended a game night at a mutual friend's house when Emmy, Mandy's daughter, took it upon herself to commandeer Jared's collapsible chair. She folded it and drug it under the table with her like some kind of chair goblin and Jared found it entertaining to play tug-o-war with her. Mandy, was of course, embarrassed but Jared and Emmy made a good time of if. For several months, Jared was known as the beloved "Chair Guy" by Emmy, instead of his actual first name. This endearment lead to Jared and Mandy sharing a number of deep conversations that eventually lead to where we are today.
It was June 29th, 2019, the day Jared returned home from an entire day's worth of travel from his hometown of Fairbanks, Alaska. Mandy had picked him up from that airport that day, and while he was digging through his backpack to make room for his book, he pulled out a white, square shaped box, handed it to her, and nonchalantly asked, "Hey can you hold this real quick?" She was pretty certain she knew what it was, but he denied it and said it was a box for something else. He took the box back and stuffed it back into his backpack, and life carried on during the crawl home on the 405. During their vacation, the gardeners had completely butchered Mandy's favorite tree in the backyard, and she wanted to show Jared the devastation. He poured two glassed champagne, and she took to the backyard to mourn the tree. Suddenly, mid-rant, she noticed that he had taken to one knee and presented her with a rose quartz ring that was mined from a glacier in Northern Alaska. After happy-crying for a solid of period of time, she said yes!
