Norman and Yina met freshmen year at Stevenson University, on their first day of classes, where they had Public Speaking together. They became friends throughout the school year and hung out casually. They continued their friendship by texting each other throughout the summer of 2017 and right before the beginning of their sophomore year, he suggested on taking her out to a "birthday dinner." After dinner, Norman brought Yina back to his dorm where he told her that he liked her and had been trying to work up the courage to let her know for the past three months. Her response, "Take me out on another date and we'll see what happens." Seven years later, they plan to have a beautiful wedding to celebrate their love and commitment.

About a week before the proposal, Norman asked Yina if she wanted to get all dressed up to go on a date. Yina, not thinking too much into it thought, "We haven't gotten dressed for a date in awhile. Let's do it!" On the hot summery day of July 22, 2022, Norman got dressed up in a long sleeve button up and khakis while Yina wore a short sun dress. Norman employed the help of Yina's friend/bridesmaid, Sam, to come outside and take pictures of them before the date. After a few pictures, Norman turned and got down on one knee. Yina, stunned by the moment and seeing the ring could only get out the words, "What, what, whaa..." to where Norman asked, "Will you marry me?" Now, over 2 years later, they're ready to say, "I do," to the rest of their lives together and celebrate their big day with all of their family and friends.
