Yiğit: This story starts years ago when we started working together. A girl was coming from a place I had never heard of to work in my country. What I did not know was that this girl would someday become my wife! Lea: When I first moved to Turkey I was introduced to Yiğit as “the most interesting man on earth.” I was intrigued. Who was this mysterious musician in the leather jacket sporting a man bun, working and serving in the church with me? As time went on, in many ways Yiğit remained a mystery to me! However over the years working together, our friendship grew. Yiğit: In the summer of 2017 my heart toward Lea was beginning to change. I began praying and thinking about when would be the best time to share my feelings with her. I waited five months. Lea: As my friendship with Yiğit grew, to my horror, my feelings for Yiğit also began to grow. I was terrified because, surely, he would never feel the same, I thought. Yiğit: December 17, 2017 was the day I shared my whole heart with Lea. I had no idea what Lea would say and I was so nervous! Lea: On the night Yiğit shared his feelings with me, I was so excited! Of course I wanted to date Yiğit. Yiğit: For exactly one exciting year Lea and I dated. Lea is the most colorful part of my life! And finally the day came! On March 9th 2019 we had the greatest day of our story yet. I rented a boat and proposed. Lea’s tears of joy were the most beautiful thing I’ve seen in my life. Lea: Yiğit proposed to me on March 9th, almost exactly one year from when we had officially started dating. On a rented boat he took me out on the Bosphorus one sunny afternoon and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes. Yiğit: Yes, we’re getting getting married! The first chapter of this story finishes like this. Like Tolstoy said, “All great literature is one of two stories; a man goes on a journey or a stranger comes to town.” See you in the next chapter!
