Legend has it that Milo first approached Yesi at her birthday party in downtown L.A. And uh...it didn't go so well for him. Milo pulled up to Yesi's birthday party at Belasco GEEKED to be on the VIP list since he was only home for a short time from grad school. SO geeked, in fact, that he extended the invitation to a few of his friends to join him. When Yesi greeted Milo and his friends, Milo thought "maybe I should shoot my shot?" As Yesi was introduced to Milo, she said "hi...bye...I gotta go" so quickly in the same breath that Milo barely had time to recognize his shot was shot down. His friends were glad to be there to witness this first hand. "Well, while that CLEARLY didn't go accordingly to plan, hopefully I'll get another chance," Milo lamented.
Two and a half years after he was initially turned down, Milo left a date early (yes, with a different woman) for an opportunity to FINALLY have a conversation with Yesi. Milo was anxious and nervous to approach her in a crowded club because he always admired her so much as the #QueenOfLA. Nevertheless, Milo mustered up the courage and reFUSED to let fear get in his way. Yesi and Milo chatted for awhile and both recognized they genuinely enjoyed the conversation. By nothing other than the grace of GOD and the sweet Banana Republic shirt he was wearing, Milo's #WCW gave him the digits. Two days later, they went on their first date: A romantic getaway to see "Jurassic World" in 3-D.
After an incredible summer of dating and getting to know each other, Yesi and Milo knew it was time to make their relationship official. After all, #CuffingSeason is an evidenced based practice. So, late one Tuesday night when she least expected it, Milo drive to Yesi's to officially ask her to be his partner. BUT...being the sly guy he is, Milo had a few tricks up his sleeve to make it a surprise. To throw her off the scent, Milo asked Yesi to join him to drive to pick up some deodorant. As the two began to drive, Milo popped in a fresh mixtape and asked Yesi if she could pick up on a theme she heard in the songs. Try as she might, even between Musiq Soulchild, Zapp and Roger, and Alicia Keys, Yesi wasn't quite sure if she was picking up what Milo was throwing down. However, when that N'Sync "Girlfriend" remix with Nelly came on, Yesi caught on. Milo pressed eject on the CD player to show a CD with a question written in Sharpie: "Will you be my girlfriend?" (Check 'yes' or 'no'). Yesi graciously obliged by not only checking 'yes,' but also writing in 'I would be honored.'
#CuffingSeason sparked LOVE! Even though Milo and Yesi had only been "official" for two months, they both knew the love was real. Love blossomed from an authentic friendship grounded in mutual respect, support, and admiration. Yesi quickly became Milo's rock, so he expressed his unconditional love for Yesi through writing THE most magical three words on an exquisitely polished rock...this time with Old Gold Sharpie. Presentation is everything, so the surprise was waiting for Yesi in Milo's glove compartment when he dropped her off from a date.
Milo ain't no dummy and he's definitely not no Jon Snow. Friendship and unconditional Love have guided Milo and Yesi through traveling the world, grieving together, celebrating together, and growing together. They can't imagine spending their lives without each other. Fortunately for Milo, YESI SAID YES when he popped the question, officially making him the luckiest lad in all of Westeros.
We got married December 12th 2020. We had planned a beautiful reception with socially distance tables but the pandemic got worse before it got better. A whole year later and vaccinations later - WE ARE EXCITED TO PARTY with you!
