FAQs

Question

What is the tea ceremony?

Answer

The Vietnamese tea ceremony is a meaningful tradition that formally brings two families together. During the ceremony, the couple serves tea to their parents as a sign of respect and gratitude. In return, families offer blessings, advice, and well wishes for their marriage. Symbolic gifts may also be exchanged as part of the tradition. The ceremony represents the joining of two families and the beginning of a new chapter together. The ceremony typically lasts about [30–60] minutes, followed by time to gather and enjoy food and refreshments. The ceremony will be held outdoors at a private home, including a patio and grassy areas. We recommend choosing footwear suitable for grass and outdoor surfaces.
