Our first date was at MI PIACE in downtown Pasadena. We were both nervous but also excited. After dinner, Jose asked if I wanted dessert from this little gelato shop across the street. We walked over, grabbed our gelato, and sat on a little bench at the nearby park. Without even thinking, I put my head on his shoulder while eating my ice cream. I was looking up at the sky feeling at peace and incredibly comfortable. Suddenly, I felt a kiss on my forehead, which normally would have freaked me out, but not with him. It was a soft gentle kiss, and I just looked up at him and smiled. In that moment, I knew we had something special. We have a relationship centered in Christ and that’s what I appreciate most about us. We truly desire to out love each other every day. One of the most beautiful compliments we received as a couple came from a complete stranger. We had been sitting in the lobby of the emergency room for 7 hours waiting to be seen for my broken foot. Jose was playing hangman with me and tick-tac-toe and any other game he could think of to keep my mind occupied. We were both tired, and I was in so much pain, but we were still laughing and joking, trying to make the best of the situation. Jose was holding me and kissing my forehead when the gentleman across from us said, “Excuse me, I don’t mean to interrupt, but we have been waiting here for so long and you guys are still happy. You can really see how much you love each other. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen two people so in love. It brought joy to my heart and it’s really encouraging to see”. I still hold those sweet words close to my heart. May we spend the rest of our lives glorifying Christ through our love. We can’t wait to be married and celebrate this special union with you!
