Our story didn’t begin with a first glance. We knew of each other in middle school and shared similar circles, along with a few mutual friends. At the time, we never imagined what our story would eventually become. On May 26th, 2017, what started as a simple walk home after a stop at a now-closed, Just Wing It, turned into the beginning of our relationship. Somewhere between wing sauce, laughter, and Matt proudly chanting “Yeika Pizarro’s my girlfriend!” the entire walk home, something meaningful began. From that day on, our relationship has been filled with growth, love, and plenty of memorable moments. One of our favorites is a day trip to Wildwood, New Jersey, the summer before college, when we first felt a sense of independence and like we could take on the world together. Over the years, we’ve built a relationship rooted in balance and admiration. Yeika values Matt’s calm and steady nature, especially in moments when she needs grounding. Matt admires Yeika’s selflessness and the way she consistently puts others first. We’ve created our own traditions, like never celebrating a birthday or anniversary at the same restaurant twice; (At this point, we’ve made our way through most of Hershey and are always open to new recommendations). On January 27th, 2023, in New York City, Matt planned a proposal Yeika will never forget. After seeing Wicked, he spent the entire walk back to the hotel agreeing with her about how tired they were, only for Yeika to completely miss a trail of rose petals and get excited for whoever they were meant for. With a quick pull in the right direction, everything clicked. Inside a beautifully decorated room, Matt got down on one knee, and the surprises didn’t stop there. Friends appeared, followed by a larger celebration with loved ones, ending the night in a penthouse filled with laughter and unforgettable memories. After nearly a decade together, we are excited to begin this next chapter of marriage. We’ve already shared so many meaningful years and look forward to everything ahead. We truly took our time selecting each and every one of you, and it means so much to have you here celebrating our union. Thank you to both of our families for welcoming us into your homes and lives so naturally. It has meant more to us than we can express.
