We're getting married

April 12, 2025. “Hey, I’m Skylar Carroll.”
 “Hii! I’m Yazmin, nice to meet you.” Neither of us knew that such a simple introduction would become the beginning of our forever. We met at an event held to commemorate the death of Jesus, spoke briefly for a moment, and then went our separate ways. Later that evening, we ended up going to dinner with a group of friends. Although, little did I know, Skylar had coordinated the dinner just so he could spend more time talking to me. When we arrived, everyone else was coupled up, which left the two of us awkwardly making conversation while we waited to be seated. What started as small talk quickly turned into hours of nonstop conversation about our interests, work, goals, and life. Everything felt so natural, and I had never felt so instantly connected to someone before. Once we finally sat down, we ended up across from each other and talked all. night. long. It took us forever to order because we barely even looked at the menu, we were too busy looking at each other. At the end of dinner, Skylar asked for my number… and I kinda rejected him at first. So naturally, he asked for my Snapchat instead. I couldn’t say no twice, he was just too cute, so I gave it to him and we kept talking after dinner. (I ended up giving him my number later anyway.) From the very beginning, Skylar made it clear that he wanted to see me again, and while it made me feel incredibly special, I was still hesitant to let someone get too close after being hurt in the past. Thankfully, he never gave up. Little by little, he helped me let my walls down. Over the next two weeks, he constantly showed up for me. He brought me snacks and food, spent time with me, and even took care of me while I battled one of the worst colds I’d ever had. His kindness and consistency made it impossible not to fall for him. Just two weeks after we met, Skylar already knew he wanted me to be his girlfriend. While I was asleep on the couch recovering from my cold, he asked my parents for permission to date me. Then, with a diamond necklace in hand, he asked me to meet him in his grandpa’s driveway, who coincidentally happens to be my neighbor. He gave me the sweetest speech about how much his life had changed since meeting me, and before he could even finish, I was already saying yes. Over the past year, Skylar has loved me in ways I never thought I would experience. Even after working 16-hour days in the sun with no breaks, he would still rush home, shower, and meet me at Target just to walk around with me, even when I didn’t need anything. And he’d still end up buying my entire Target haul. That alone should tell you how spoiled I really am. He has shown me a kind of love I used to think only existed in fairytales. He inspires me daily to become a better person, and I truly could write a book about how much our lives have changed for the better since we met. Together, we found the love we had both dreamed of and prayed for our entire lives, and we are so grateful to Jehovah for blessing us with each other. Now, we are beyond excited to finally tie the knot on August 1, 2026, and begin this next chapter together. We can’t wait to celebrate our love with all of our friends and family.
