Travel Note
∞ Passport ∞ All travelers visiting Ghana must have a valid passport. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates. ∞ Visa ∞ Many travelers, including those coming from the U.S., will need a tourist visa to enter Ghana. For U.S. travelers, please visit Embassy of Ghana (Washington, D.C.) website below for detailed instructions. ∞ Vaccination ∞ A Yellow Fever vaccination is required for entry into Ghana. You will receive a yellow vaccination card after your shot, which may be requested at the airport upon arrival. ∞ Currency ∞ The local currency is the Ghanaian Cedi (GHS). Credit cards are accepted at many hotels and restaurants, but it is helpful to carry some local cash for smaller purchases.
Flight
Kotoka International Airport (ACC) in Accra is the main airport and is only a short car ride from all of our recommended lodging suggestions. When searching for flights, look for routes into ACC from major hubs such as Washington, D.C., New York, or Atlanta. We recommend guests outside of Ghana arrive into Accra no later than November 12th to allow time to settle in and join any pre-wedding activities.
Travel Note
Guests are welcome to book accommodations independently. Accra offers many great lodging options including boutique hotels, guest houses, and private rentals such as Airbnb. For guests who prefer to book their own accommodations, we recommend looking in the following areas: • Airport/East Legon Area - Great restaurants, nightlife, and close to airport • Cantonments/Labone - Upscale neighborhoods with many hotels and restaurants • Osu - A lively area with shopping, restaurants, and entertainment
Travel Note
We highly recommend using the Uber App as your primary means of transportation. Uber is widely available in major areas like Accra and offers a safe, convenient, and reliable way to get around. It allows you to request rides directly from your phone, see pricing upfront, and pay seamlessly through the app–no need to negotiate fares or handle local currency for each trip.
