Our new date is finalized and we are busy planning a fun and safe weekend. We cannot wait to celebrate with each and everyone one of you and hope you are all getting excited! In addition to the Sunday wedding, we plan to a winery or two on Saturday to enjoy the beautiful Charlottesville scenery and welcome our guests. Hope to see you all soon!

While celebrating her birthday with friends in Rosslyn, VA, Yas decided she wanted to continue the festivities in DC. She spontaneously picked a bar called Local 16. Meanwhile, Dan was bar hopping with two friends to celebrate his own birthday and ended up at... Local 16! After several attempts to grab a drink at the upstairs bar, Dan made his way downstairs. At the downstairs bar, Dan found himself next to a beautiful lady who immediately questioned why he was wearing sunglasses indoors. Dan had no good response (a fact Dan contests to this day) but offered to buy her a Blue Moon instead. The two found themselves talking until last call, when Dan asked for Yas's number. The next morning, as Dan was sitting around trying to craft the perfect text, he received a text from Yas saying how much fun she had meeting him the night before, and the rest is history! It was the best birthday gift they both received!

During a trip to London for Dan's graduation from King's College, Dan and Yas had brunch plans with one of their friends near Regent's Park. Dan suggested they walk through the park on their way to brunch as it had been one of their favorite spots while living in London. As they walked, Yas became worried that they were running late since they were still nowhere near the restaurant. Sensing Yas's concern, Dan quickened his pace and they came to a footbridge in the park surrounded by roses and a lily pond. It was there that Dan stumbled through a speech he had been rehearsing all week before getting on one knee and asking Yas to marry him, exactly five and a half years after they met! This kicked off a week of celebrations and surprises, including dinner overlooking London at The Shard and a trip to Portugal. They were so grateful that two of Dan's siblings, Molly and Tim, could be there to help them celebrate!
